World Class Restoration.

At Mahogany Bay, we've restored some of the rarest and most sought after vintage boats in the world. Our emphasis on high standards, authenticity and professionalism has helped make us the top destination for wood boat connoisseurs in North America.

We have one of the largest private archives of original watercraft documentation in the world. So naturally, each of our restorations begins with thorough research and careful planning. Understanding your needs, preservation vs. restoration, intended use, etc. allows us to set priorities and ensure there are no unnecessary surprises along the way.

Our restoration staff includes 6 master shipwrights. When appropriate, they employ the same construction techniques used when a boat was originally built techniques that would otherwise be lost to the ages.

Craftsmanship and unmatched attention to detail go into every restoration.

We encounter a wide variety of engines in our business, spanning a broad time frame. From World War One surplus-vintage Hall-Scott and Liberty engines, to Chris-Craft six cylinder engines, to fifties and sixties Chrysler Hemis and Chris-Craft 430 Lincolns, we've developed a large group of suppliers and can find the appropriate parts (if they exist!) If they don't exist, we have an equally large number of skilled fabricators who can recreate everything from Gar Wood Liberty V-12 transmission parts to brackets to accommodate a modern alternator.

Original instrumentation is a must in a vintage boat, even if modern power has been installed. We have a number of great suppliers who are expert at restoration, and we have a great deal of experience in matching those instruments to whatever engine inputs are available.

We regularly have leather custom-dyed to match original colors and patterns from the twenties and thirties. We have innumerable sources for vinyl materials and production processes to match almost any interior. We also have skilled artisans who can re-create hand tied, cotton covered coil spring seat bases, horsehair seatbacks, and biscuit stitched kapok cushions, right down to original seat cushion Coast Guard labels from the thirties and forties.

We've won more awards than any other restoration shop in North America including Best in Class at the Concours d'Elegance in Lake Tahoe 10 years in a row.

A 1940 26' Gar Wood Overnighter is reborn over the course of a three-year keel-up restoration.  The "Ann Rita" is the last surviving example of this model.
